Overland to Western Mongolia

Start your epic overland trip to the westernmost province of Mongolia. After 2 hours we arrive in Hustain Nuruu National Park, explore the area and witness last remaining wild horses that are kept in wild habitat. From there we have lunch and continue to drive to Khakhrorin town. Later in the evening, we arrive in Kharkhorin town. We spend the night in gers (Yurts).

Today we visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery and the most famous of all the temples, Zuu. The temple complex covers a large area and shelters a 16-17^th century masterpiece. It is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Mongolian and Tibetan art. From here, we continue to visit the active temple of Bat Erdene-Zuu which was once home to nearly thousands of Buddhist monks. We will meet teacher Baasan Lama and then pass under private blessings. We will visit the newly made Kharkhorin museum and explore it. After lunch, we’ll continue to drive to western Mongolia, in the later afternoon we arrive in Tsetserleg town. Then we will camp at the forested area of Gurvan Davaa Pass.

We continue our overland journey to the west and drive to the southern shore Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. Then onto gradual pass Solongot, driving via Tarvagatain Range and enter into Zavkhan province. We then arrive in a town called Tosontsengel and stay overnight in tents next to Ider river.

After breakfast, we drive to the south-west to explore the Ulaagchin Khar Lake. We then stop at Yaruu village for refuelling and stretch. Lunch will be provided on the way, all afternoon driving off-road arriving at the pristine, freshwater lake surrounded by sand dunes. Camp nearby lakeshore.

We continue our drive and spend this day driving via the steppes of western Mongolia. We stop for stretching our legs and this gives us an opportunity to visit local nomad families and reminders of ancient history deer stone monuments. Afternoon drive along the shore of Khyargas lake, one of the largest lakes of western Mongolia, camp next to Khyargas Lake.

A full driving day on our overland journey to western Mongolia, we stop later in the afternoon arriving in Ulgii town, transfer to your private camp that locates nearby Khatuu River, spend this afternoon relaxing and witnessing preparation of Eagle Hunters Festival, overnight in your private gers.

In the morning we transfer to the home of Eagle Hunter’s home, ride horses with them and witness actual Eagle Hunting, afternoon return to ger camp. Overnight in gers.

After breakfast, we transfer to Ulaanbaatar arriving late afternoon. We spend overnight in a hotel and have dinner at some popular restaurant in Ulaanbaatar city.

We spend the day in Ulaanbaatar exploring the city. Lunch is on your own and we meet for dinner together.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for departure to your home.
