  1. Day 1 Arrive to Marrakech

Flights arrive into Marrakech throughout the day. You will be met at the airport by one of the guides who will take you to your hotel and make sure that you get settled in nice and comfy! Then it’s out to explore the local restaurants and culture (and believe us, there are plenty!)

    Included: No meals

  2. Day 2 Road trip through the Atlas Mountains

We enjoy a hearty breakfast at our hotel, and then board our vehicles bound for the heart of the Atlas Mountains. We drive northward from Marrakech with the sun rising over the mountains, towards the middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in stunning olive groves for a sumptuous lunch and drive towards Tilouguite pausing to take in the view as we cross this picturesque mountain range. We cross the ‘Hidden’ River just past Tilouguite and drive a little further to our campsite for the night and dine in style amidst some of the most stunning scenery you will ever see.

    Included: All meals

  3. Day 3 Load up and head down river!

We take you through a thorough safety briefing so you are fully prepared should you make an untimely exit from the boat and we also practice our paddling techniques before tackling our first rapids. We load the gear raft with the rest of our equipment and of we go! Many of the rapids are as yet unnamed… perhaps a chance for your fame to be realized? Depending on flows this can be a fun technical river or big volume and bouncy!

We paddle through the narrows in Tilouguite with locals watching on the riverbanks, rather bemused at our range of colourful equipment. Some may even jump in and attempt to hitch a lift down the river. We camp amongst cedar trees at “Barking Dog” camp. The afternoon is yours to explore the nearby mountains, to write a few thoughts down or to have a game of volleyball on the beach!

    Included: All meals

  4. Day 4 Navigating the rapids

Today sees more roller coaster rapids as we head down river and discover the majestic beauty of this land. Some great fun waves today. Our day is interspersed with a relaxing lunch, sometimes accompanied by curious locals churning wheat at local waterwheels. The water here is generally crystal clear and we will pack our fishing rods and try our luck at catching fresh fish for dinner tonight! We will raft for around 4-5 hours per day, leaving plenty of time to go and explore nearby villages, or just sit around with your fellow paddlers and discuss the day.

    Included: All meals

  5. Day 5 Experience Moroccan Hospitality

It is great to remember where we are on the edge of the Sahara, on a crystal clear river tackling the best white-water that Morocco has to offer. Rapids come thick and fast today, but what a fantastic place to learn your newly found skills. After a lunch full of the fresh foods Morocco has to offer, we walk up the valley to a nearby Casbah, as we relax and sample Moroccan hospitality. Farmers go about their everyday business and inquisitive locals marvel at out vast array of multi-coloured equipment. We raft down to our night’s camp deep within a stunning gorge, a fitting finale to this magical journey. It’s great to sit around the fire watching the glow dance on the canyon walls and recount the day’s tales.

    Included: All meals

  6. Day 6 Rafting & Back to Marrakech

On the last day we finish off with a few fun rapids and then paddle towards Lake Bin El Ouidane where we will raft all the boats up together and motor across the lake to our waiting vehicle. Time to sit back and relax enjoying a beer or two!

From here we will drive back to Marrakech for the evening and enjoy our first chance to explore the souqs of Djeema el Fna. Carpet shopping is made an art by some of these gentlemen!

    Included: All meals

  7. Day 7 Visit in Djemaa el-Fna

The focal point of Marrakech is the Djemaa el-Fna, a huge square in the old part of town. Although it is a lively place at any time of day (watch out for the Berber acrobats around 4 pm) it really comes into its own in the evening reaching its peak between 7 and 9 pm. Rows of open air food stalls are set up and mouth watering aromas fill the square. Jugglers, story tellers, snake charmers, magicians, acrobats and retired river guides take over the rest of the space, each surrounded by jostling spectators who listen and watch intently, or fall about laughing and move onto the next act which is starting nearby. Truly a great fun place to spend your day!

    Included: Breakfast

  8. Day 8 Back to the Airport

Flights normally leave Marrakech around midday, so a chance for some last minute shopping and then we pack up and head straight back to the airport to catch our flights home.

    Included: Breakfast

Accommodation

For 1 night before the rafting and 2 nights after your trip, you’ll be staying in a hotel sharing with a fellow adventurer from your trip. If you have a request regarding who you are sharing with, please inform our office. If our trip ends up with odd numbers the last single will be charged a Single Supplement. If this is requested there will be an additional charge of £250. On the river portion of the trip, you’ll also be sharing a tent with a fellow rafter. You can request a single tent for a small additional charge.

You will be able to leave any clothing or baggage that you don’t require on the river at your Hotel whilst you are on the river and collect this again when you get off your trip. All valuables will be locked and kept in the hotel safe.

Please do not take valuables such as passports, money, credit cards and flight tickets on the river with you on the river!

Most of our clients are aware that adventure travel to far flung lands can pose it’s own interesting idiosyncrasies common in the developing world.

Very few things happen fast, and you’ll find a smiling face and a little patience work wonders in these countries for getting things accomplished.

We recommend a few phrases of the local language will get you a long way (this is sent to you in your pre departure pack). Our trip leaders are on hand if you have any queries about the country you are visiting.

On receipt of your deposit and booking form, we’ll send you a suggested equipment list. If you require some of the items suggested for your trip, we can organise them for you.

30 days prior to your trip departure, you’ll be sent a pack with a few “goodies” including facts about the country you are visiting, who your guides are, along with what you might expect on your trip.

An adequate insurance policy is required to cover you whilst white water rafting. This must also include medical evacuation and repatriation in the unlikely event you are injured on your trip.

North Americans can obtain a policy through www.globalrescue.com. For insurance purposes, you should insure participants up to and including Grade IV.

As most aspects of your trip are taken care of, the money you will need to bring will be limited. You can pay for many items at this destination by credit card although we recommend travelling with a small amount of Euros or Pound Sterling in small denominations. (10, and 20 notes are good) ATM facilities are available at this destination.

What better way of travelling down a river than by your own paddle power and gravity? We take great care of the environment we visit and carry out all our waste that we take on trips.

We keep groups small to not impact the environment and to give you the chance to chat with all the interesting people on your trip.

On many of our departures we take along a trip cameraman who will capture your trip through their eyes. This will capture not only you paddling through white water, but have local wildlife, scenic shots and the adventures around camp.

These can be pre-ordered or they can be ordered in destination. When edited, they will be put to music and enclosed in the DVD case for your memory.
