  1. Day 1 DEPARTURE FROM EUROPE

    Arrival on the same evening or the next day.

  2. Day 2 ARRIVAL IN BUENOS AIRES - EL CALAFATE

    We are greeted at the Buenos Aires EZE International Airport and use a transfer to the Buenos Aires AEP national airport for domestic flight to El Calafate. Reception at El Calafate airport and transfer to the hotel.

  3. Day 3 CALAFATE - GLACIER PERITO MORENO - EL CHALTÉN

    After breakfast, a departure from our hotel to reach the Perito Moreno glacier located 80 km from El Calafate. This half-day excursion will allow us to fully enjoy this exceptional natural environment. Many walkways offer a panoramic view of the glacier overlooking the surrounding lenga groves. Morning devoted to a visit of the glacier from the footbridges overhanging the site. In option, it is possible to make navigation of 20 minutes at the foot of the glacier. In the early afternoon, we leave for El Chaltén by bus.

  4. Day 4 EL CHALTEN

    Today we meet our mountain guide for a first briefing. Together, we verify that the material we have is adequate for shipping. Morning or afternoon free according to the agenda of the guide. This will be the opportunity to do one of the many hikes, always well indicated to Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre. Depending on how much time you have left and advice from the guide you can choose the most suitable hike.

  5. Day 5 VALLEY OF RIO ELECTRICO

    We take a bus to the north-west which leaves us 15 km further, at the beginning of the trail. This is where our expedition begins. The first two hours, we follow the Rio Electrico through the forest of Ñires (Nothofagus Antarctica or Antarctic beech) and lengas (Nothofagus or white beech). From the Piedra del Fraile the show opens and we begin to see the mountains: the Cerro 30 Aniversario (2,281 m), the Pollone Mountains that are part of the Cerro Torre range and the north-west face of Fitz Roy. Another two hours of walking and we arrive at the Rio Pollone we cross the ford. After an hour of walking, we reach our camp, in front of Lake Electrico and at the foot of the Marconi Glacier.

  6. Day 6 GLACIER MARCONI - PASO MARCONI

    Today we climb to the Marconi paso. We move on the Marconi glacier that will take us to the pass of the same name. We first go through an unstable scree. Then, it is with the crampons and roped that we cross the possible crevasses of the glacier. The strong wind can make this day difficult physically and mentally. We camp with a majestic view of Fitz Roy and Cerro Murallon.

  7. Day 7 PASO MARCONI - CIRCUS OF LOS ALTARES

    Today we are totally on the ice cap of the Continental glacier. We can use the pulkas to deflate us. The view of Lautaro volcano to the north and Mariano Moreno (one of the highest peaks in the region) with the expanse of the glacial plain is a unique sight. Camp overlooking the western faces of Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy!

  8. Day 8 CIRC DE LOS ALTARES - REFUGIO PASO DEL VIENTO

    Today we begin a gentle descent on the glacier for about fifteen kilometres and we take foot on dry land. We stop at the camp called Laguna de Los Esquies or if the weather and our condition permit we camp next to a small refuge called Refugio paso del viento.

  9. Day 9 REFUGEO PASO DEL VIENTO - CERRO HUEMUL

    Today we drive along the Viedma Glacier and bypass the Cerro Huemul with magnificent views of the Viedma Glacier and the end of the lake of the same name as well as on the Hielo Patagonico Icefield. . Camp at Cerro Huemul.

  10. Day 10 CERRO HUEMUL - LAKE VIEDMA - EL CHALTEN

    We descend to Lake Viedma. We take the boat on the Bahia Cabo de Hornos which leads us to the Bahia Tunel in one hour of navigation. Bus transfer to El Chalten.

  11. Day 11 AND 12 DAYS OF BEATS IN CASE OF CLIMATE ISSUES

    These days will be used during the expedition to wait for a mild weather or rest. However if we have exceptional weather conditions the guide reserves the possibility of arriving on day 10 in El Chaltén. In this case days 11 and 12 will be your responsibility.

  12. Day 13 EL CHALTEN - EL CALAFATE - BUENOS AIRES

    Transfer to El Calafate airport. Domestic flight Calafate – Buenos Aires. Reception at the Buenos Aires AEP national airport and transfer to the hotel.

    Transfer: by car, group and regular service between El Chaltén and Calafate 220 km, about 3 hours. In private vehicle for airport assistance.

  13. Day 14 BUENOS AIRES - UK

    3 hours before your flight, you will depart your hotel and will transfer by private vehicle from Buenos Aires to EZE international airport.

    For unpredictable reasons such as poor health of the participants, extreme weather conditions, or any unforeseen incident, your guide may have to adapt the program for the smooth running of your trip. He remains the sole judge and guarantor of your safety. Walking times are given as an indication and may vary from one participant to another.

Accommodation and meals

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation will be in a good standard hotel (basic: double room) in Buenos Aires, in a basic hotel or hostel in El Chaltén and Calafate, and under a tent during the expedition. Double tents for two people that participants must carry and set up with the help of the guide.

 

MEALS

Meals during the days when we are in the cities will be at many small (or large) restaurants that will allow us to discover the typical local cuisine.

During the expedition, the participants must take part in the daily tasks and the preparation of the meals which will be cooked in the open air during clear weather and under the tents when the weather is bad.

No visa for the UK, Belgian or Swiss nationals, for a stay of fewer than three months. For other nationalities, inquire at the consulate or embassy. Passport requirement valid and valid for 6 months after the date of return. However, a visa will be required if your flight stops in the USA (see EASA online simplified procedure) These formalities may change and we thank you for checking the conditions of entry with the consular authorities of the country visited. these formalities.

This course is of a high difficulty level. It requires an excellent physical condition a mental and be very enduring, a cold resistance, notions of climbing techniques. You have to carry your bag and all your belongings as well as some of the group material. The weight is estimated at 20 to 25 kg for each participant. (Possibility of hiring a porter: price to consult us).

For your trip, plan 15 to 18 kg maximum, outside of your hand luggage, even if in most flights you will be entitled to 20 kg in the hold and 10 kg in the cabin. There is no point in being too busy and a little space is available to bring back memories. Attention, any extra and overweight bag will be charged directly by the airline during check-in. If you have domestic flights, check that there are no specific baggage restrictions. Finally, note that security checks have become very strict at airports: put the knives, scissors, nail files in your hold bag, the same for bottles and tubes of more than 100 ml.

CLOTHING

You need several layers to add or remove depending on the temperature and your activity. You’ll be able to wash some quick-drying things on the way, including underwear and socks.

  • Gore-Tex® waterproof and breathable jacket
  • Poncho or rain cape
  • Micro-fleece sweater or jacket, finer
  • Technical and / or short-sleeved T-shirts (avoid cotton, long to dry)
  • Lightweight trousers canvas
  • Zip pants, cropped trousers or Bermuda shorts
  • Walking socks
  • Underwear
  • Swimsuit
  • Hat, cap or headband to protect from the sun

SHOES

  • A pair of walking shoes, which you are used to (to avoid blisters) for hiking trails.
  • A pair of lighter walking shoes, which will be useful for flights, transfers, site visits and evenings.
  • Pair of flip-flops, sandals or Crocs® type for the toilet, especially
  • 2-litre bottle and tablets to disinfect water – Pocket knife type Opinel® or Laguiole® and/or a
  • “Swiss army knife” multi-use, to put in the baggage recorded in the hold
  • Headlamp type Petzl® + spare batteries
  • Hand-charging torch (more eco-friendly and economical)
  • Headlamp with red light for nature observation + spare battery
  • Good quality sunglasses
  • Sunscreen (high index) + lipstick.
  • Pair of binoculars to observe the fauna (optional).
  • Camera and / or camera (optional). Remember to protect it from dust and moisture (in a zippable
  • plastic bag with Silicagel bag for example).
  • A power adapter to recharge the batteries
  • Colour photocopy of the passport facilitates administrative procedures in case of loss or theft (not to be kept in the same place as the passport!)
