This Grand Tour of Huayhuash Cordillera brings together six peaks of more than 6,000 meters high. In this region, giant glaciers rush towards lagoons with magical, emerald and turquoise colours. On the mule tracks that connect the lost villages, we will make a complete tour of the massif. The tour will take you from picturesque villages to some very high passes that lead to immense pampas. Access is comparatively more difficult in this region than in the Cordillera Blanca, and the feeling of isolation is quite strong. With its eight passes between 4,300 and 5,000 m altitude, this beautiful trek is the “classic” high Andean road with dream campsites. Pioneering Azerbaijan Expedition

Azerbaijan shares its border with Georgia, Russia, Iran and Armenia. It stretches from the Great Caucasus Mountains in the north to the hilly, picturesque Hirkan National Park and the Talysh Mountains in the South. It is the only country in the entire Caucasus chain where you can encompass the southern and northern slopes; therefore, be ready to be amazed by its beauty.

The core of our expedition’s itinerary is the self-sufficient horse-back trek amid the Great Caucasus Mountains. During our journey, we will ride overpasses, on crests, high plateaus, between mountains lakes, and through pristine forests and wild rivers. We will be accompanied by the local Lezgian people, who are very familiar with the incredible Ismaili National Park. Our goal is to reach Xinalig, which is a Qetish village where locals speak an endemic language.

Horses are the only way of transportation in the mountains. We will choose our route every day in accordance with the weather, pathways and snow conditions. Hence, each day will be an adventure, and each trip will offer a new itinerary.

The trip will offer a vibrant mix of nature and culture. You will also experience different kinds of ecosystems and landscapes: from the green mountains to the volcanic desert.

We will finish the trip by travelling overnight on an old Soviet train to Tbilisi. This city is the beautiful and charming capital of Georgia. Tbilisi is a vibrant and hospitable city; therefore, you will feel at home due to local hospitality. Coming from Azerbaijan, you will be reminded of Europe, with its cobbled streets and small, beautiful houses. After spending some time, you will observe the middle-eastern influences. You will get an entire day (24 hours) to learn about Tbilisi’s history, architecture and the Georgian lifestyle. In the process, you will discover the differences and similarities between these two former Soviet countries of the Caucasus region.

Druk Path Trek

Druk Path is an ancient route through the mountains between Paro and Thimphu. The trek itself is quite popular due to it passing through the epic natural landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges and pristine lakes while at the same time offering the opportunity to visit some ancient lhakhangs, dzongs and villages.

The Druk Path Trek is also a comfortable hike to undertake as the distances between rest camps is fairly short. The trail takes you through forests of fir, blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons at altitudes ranging between 2400-4200 m. On the third day hikers will arrive at Jimiling Lake, whose crystal clear waters are home to gigantic trout.

This trek also offers hikers stunning views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unscaled peak in the world.
The best times to embark on the Druk Path Trek are between March-June or September-November.

Snowman trek goes to the remote Lunana district. We consider it to be a fairly strenuous trek, simply because of the length of time, it takes to complete. Crossing dozens of high passes, many over 16,000 ft, this trek includes challenges of long distances, altitude, difficult weather conditions and remoteness. Most of all however the trip affords some of the most magnificent views in the Himalayas. Whilst traversing through spectacular landscapes, you will learn how remote villages survive in such extreme conditions. Due to the level of dependence on local support, this is the most noteworthy culturally immersive trip. This expedition although somewhat hard going, affords some serious rewards along with a sense of achievement when you finish!

The trek doesn’t have to be completed in one go and can be segmented. We can discuss preferences and the time of year to ensure you get the most out of your trek!
